Private Residence
Nestled between County Road and the Atlantic Ocean, the grand estate of "La Casa Sin Nombre" is a pearl in the Palm Beach Architectural landscape.
Encompassing more than 4 acres, the estate of the late philanthropist John Kluge combines two original Addison Mizner residences with several auxiliary guest homes and staff buildings. Working with Bridges, Marsh and Associates, Woolems renovated the 12,700 square foot Garden House and the 5,500 square foot Ocean House to incorporate these separate properties into a magnificent Palm Beach manor. Mr. Kluge purchased four separate tracts and portions of the road leading into them in order to map out and construct his personal paradise. The entire infrastructure of the property was updated in the 1995 renovation to supply all the necessary utilities to provide for his secluded compound. Cladding a majority of the property in natural coral stone helped to tie the home back in to its natural surroundings, and cement its historical place in Palm Beach history.
A stone's throw from the posh shopping experiences of Worth Avenue and situated across County road from the Everglades Golf Club, the property provides a unique slice of Palm Beach life. The nearly endless gardens and priceless art works that inhabit the estate accentuate the homes' beauty and enhance the feeling of pride in restoring architectural masterpieces on a grand scale. The restoration solidified the reputations of all who were involved as proper craftsmen. Gifted to Columbia University by the estate of Mr. Kluge, this donation is the largest in the United States, proving that charitable works are still a keystone to Palm Beach Society.
